Some might not consider Craig Shaw Gardner an underappreciated author, but for some reason I know very few people who are familiar with him.
In any case, the first Craig Shaw Gardner book that I read, and my all time favourite, is A Bad Day for Ali Baba. I then read The Other Sinbad, and I'm still trying to track down the third book.
His books are hilarious. I'm a big fan of humour centered books, and his definitely fit the picture. Sometimes dark, sometimes light, sometimes silly, sometimes a little more subtle, his books are always a delight.
The list of books at the bottom are just ones of his I found on Amazon.

The first I read and my favourite.
